After college, I worked for a hospital for 18 years. I was in Medical Administration. I loved my job, but realized that there was no ladder to climb… It became stalemate. No advances. No credit for the job you do to help others. The long hours, the hard work… 2 days of – called the weekend… If you’re lucky, a 2 week vacation each year… and having to contend with traffic, stormy weather, rude people, patients late for appointments, no shows, and everything else that goes with a 9-5!
I realized that I wanted more from life. See more, do more! In 2018 after working for the hospital for 18 years… My husband and I left – I resigned and took early retirement at age 37… Sounds nice doesn’t it? Well if you are age 37… that early retirement pension fund you had been paying into – is actually locked until you reach retirement age! Well… it was a start!
We planned and mapped out almost a year of backpacking through Central America, 2 backpacks each… and BAM! A journey began. I did workaway and house and pet sitting to fund most of the journey.
I realized I needed to still earn an income, so I started with Affiliate Marketing, but did not really have the time and effort to remain in doing that, so I obtained a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification of 120 hour course. NOW, I am an online teacher, but can work from anywhere.
