Just some info to have on hand for when you decide to start teaching – once you get the TEFL of course.
Get your TEFL here:
*Note that I am using my affiliate links so if you make a purchase, I will earn a small commission. *
For all these platforms below, you NEED a TEFL and to have a background check completed. Some of them are accepting and some you must keep trying. Many teachers are trying to get into the online world now.
These are the jobs I have as a Freelance Teacher online. You are a Freelance teacher using the various platforms to teach kids/adults. YOU MUST put a lot of time and effort to promote yourself to gain new students. They are NOT given to you. Does not work for everyone. I work on all these platforms and my schedule is full of 36 lessons a week that I teach. You NEED to put in the effort to get your reward.
I do not work for any of these companies, so do not respond and ask me about getting hired, I simply work on their platform as a freelancer, which you will also be if you join their platform.
Most of these you will need to be a citizen of USA, Canada, UK, NZ, Australia, & South Africa (some of the platforms) to be accepted.
IF you have questions, contact the platform directly with regards to applying. This is just to show you info on a few platforms that I know of that I work on.
Jobs you can apply for once you obtain TEFL certificate:
AmazingTalker https://en.amazingtalker.com/teacher-invitation/yPzsjx1aTH5DHDsGipr6jpkA This one is tricky as you must respond to student requests within 3 minutes. Otherwise, another teacher gets the student. IT is a matter of speed in responding. I do have 1 young student that bought 40 lessons and another middle-aged man from Brazil just wanting conversational and grammar practice so you can get a few students here. You must create your own lessons and curriculum to teach each student based on their needs. This platform is for teaching language only. (Not just English, so if you can teach other languages, this is a good platform). Even if you don’t catch them within the first 3 minutes, you can still message them afterwards as they will go to your chat message area. Message them something like, “Sorry I missed your request. Are you interested in booking some lessons with me?”
Outschool https://outschool.com/teach?signup=true&usid=IU8nUBJo&utm_campaign=share_invite_link&teacherReferral=true If it asks for referral code IU8nUBJo
Outschool is amazing, but you must create your own lesson plans and a bonus is that you set the price. They do take a percentage of your earnings as they promote your class lessons. You must be from USA, Canada, Australia, UK, NZ, (? South Africa now accepted?). You can teach any subject you are passionate AND knowledgeable about. I teach ESL lessons, English chat classes for building confidence, classes about animals and bugs and so on.
AllSchool is similar to Outschool. You also create the lessons and set your own price. I like it. Here is the link for applying as a teacher. They do promote your classes and take a percentage for doing so. You must be from Europe or North America at this stage to get hired, which could change in future. You can teach any subject you are passionate about on this platform. https://www.allschool.com/teach/newTeacher/?inviteCode=%2FKtszFFgd20%3D&oneLevelChannel=2&twoLevelChannel=3
Palfish Teacher – is a platform that you can apply if you are wanting to do a thing called Freetalk. You get paid by the minute to teach kids or adults. They call you via the platform and this one you only teach via your cell phone. You can use video if you wish also. The pay is low for the Official Kids Course teaching their curriculum, at around $5.62/25 minute lesson, but the curriculum is there, you just teach it. You can download this app on your cell phone. The invitation code is 13774405 once you download the app. (accepted from Europe, Australia, South Africa, North and South America).
Other jobs that hire for teaching language: Cambly, Italki, VIPKid, Preply, Skooli but I have never worked on their platforms,
Products for Online Teachers – These are a few of my favorite things…… Rewards section.
Just passing along some of the great finds (yes, they are my affiliate links) that help me in my class. Students love rewards, especially the young ones. This is the best purchase I have made…. A cookie jar and cookies. During class, I reward a cookie for great work, focus, participation etc. At the end of class, we feed the cookie jar those rewards! Kids love it!
Here is the link to get the cookie jar: https://amzn.to/3bDA6AQ
Another great product I use are reward sheets and stickers: https://amzn.to/3HWfBv0 For these I can also use my stamps if the student prefers to choose the stamp.
Stamps as rewards stamp set that I frequently use https://amzn.to/3QS69Ng
Just added ways to keep kids participating in class to earn their extra bonus rewards.
To keep organized… I work on 5 platforms, so color coding my schedule is important. I absolutely love these pens. Write so neat and nice colors too.
Fine point-colored pens. https://amzn.to/39Vf8N6
Ring light is super important when teaching. 12 inch is great for me. On a tripod so you can adjust height. https://amzn.to/3QVlmNR

Hope that you can find a job that is suitable for you where you live. These are just the ones that work for me that I am sharing where I found to be the best to work online at.
It took me 3 years to get to where I have a regular weekly schedule and sustainable income.
IF you are accepted and start teaching, then you can message me and I can let you in on the best websites to go to for playing games with your students.
All the best in your journey and good luck. Chin up – Rome wasn’t built in a day.
